Back to the Island: Our Home, Our Way of Living

It all begins with an idea.

There’s a certain rhythm to life out here on Woody Island — a rhythm you can’t quite find anywhere else. It’s in the sound of the waves splashing against the wharf, the call of the gulls over the cove, and the first turn of the soil come spring. Out here, we live by the tides, the weather, and the work of our own hands.

Our home, our way of living — one turn of the soil.
That’s what this place is all about. It’s not fancy, but it’s real. Whether it’s tending the garden, hauling wood, baking bread, or steaming out in the boat for a feed of fish, every bit of it connects us back to something simple and true.

Through Back to the Island, I want to share that way of life — the solar panels that keep the lights on, the soil that grows our food, and the sea that still feeds us today. It’s part story, part history, and part daily life from a small outport community that refuses to be forgotten.

So come along for the ride — through the seasons, through the stories, and through the salt and soil of island living. Because out here, every sunrise brings a new reason to be thankful for this place we call home.

Busy Days!

It all begins with an idea.

Yesterday!

was one of those perfect quiet evenings—just the sea, the sky, and the sounds of terns nesting over on Puddin Island.

Earlier though, it was anything but quiet. A busy day started with handling booking calls at work, then it was full steam ahead into the garden. The old fence got torn out and replaced with a new one (bunnies, take notice!). I even managed to get a few more flower grow bags in place.

The greenhouse? It’s gone wild. Lettuce and cabbage were crying to be planted, so I tucked them in before calling it a day.

After it all, sitting out on the wharf, watching the boat gently bob in the sunset glow… that’s the real magic of island life.

Back To The Island: Quick update

It all begins with an idea.

It’s been a busy stretch lately—between work and keeping up with the greenhouse, veggie gardens, and landscaping around the house, the days are flying by. The weather’s been fantastic, and the lettuce is really taking off! Flowers and shrubs are off to a great start too, bringing some nice colour around the place. The sun’s been shining steady, keeping everything growing—and powering the house while it’s at it!

Blog Post Title Four

It all begins with an idea.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
